Tactical Visuals

Detronik emerged as Detroit's first "VJ" mixing live visuals within Detroit's electronic underground scene since 1991. Detronik’s expression within visual deployment is intensely motivated and distinct. Exploiting mass Media’s idealistic image of popular culture and performing precision dissection of humanities core elements. Detronik strives to extract the viewer’s sense of reliance for technology and engage them to participate within the environment. Detronik is notorious for the deployment of surveillance CCTV drones within a space, ultimately immersing the viewer and subject within the live mix commanding complete focus. Detronik’s Visuals are extremely identifiable by the distinct combination of Low-Fidelity Imaging, Sound Generative Programming, and B/W Cinematic representation of Detroit. Detronik’s Video Installations invade the environment with Retro Television Sets Augmented with innovative Geometric Projection Mapping.

Micho aka Detronik is native to Detroits underground since the inception of electro. Micho began doing live visual mixing in the early 90s with his project Inter Animi, one of Detroits most innovative Multi Media Performance Art troops. Starting in the mid 90s and into the next millennium; Micho formulated a series of installations that integrated electronic visual devices to Detroits progressive sound. Eventually Micho started being featured as a regular VJ at the world renowned motor lounge creating massive television structures and implementing a surveillance network which would encompass the dj/performer giving a new perspective to the sound. By mid 1996 in the shadow of his media space Critical, deep within the underbelly of Detroits eastern market, ascended Detronik. From the blood stained floors and vast tunnels of the vacated slaughterhouse, Micho scavenged an army of recovered televisions and resurrected surveillance cameras from abandoned police precincts to mobilize an aggressive new autonomous visionary force. In the late 90s and early 2000s Detronik spread its roots as a visual manipulator hijacking television systems and constructing a more formidable visual architecture throughout Metro Detroits after hour venues and establishments. Today, Detronik still uses many of the original methods adopted from the early 90s running a full arsenal of surveillance cameras while mixing images live. Michos mixes are vengeful and aggressive, a blatant assault for the viewer, completing the sensory experience with lo-fidelity, contrast, and bleak imagery of a mediated reality and Detroits underworld.Micho developed Synthetic Detronik in 1997 in the shadow of his highly aggressive performance art group Inter Animi. Inter Animi existed in Detroit from 1991 causing utter chaos in any club, music venue, or streets. The performance art group consisted of no less the 15 extremists that put aside physical limitation and pushed boundaries. Inter Animi was birthed out of the depths of the industrial cyber-punk alleys of extreme bondage and fetish shows. Inter Animi used the same methodology of creating an atmosphere and erecting complex multi sensory environments including visuals, abstract lighting, power tools, drum machines, modified toys, synthesizers, and last but not least Fire and Explosives. Inter Animis performances were often so extreme that many establishments banned their shows in Detroit. In 1996 members of Inter Animi migrated to England and Ireland to carry their message. Returning to form the successful Critical gallery/space located in Detroits Eastern Market bringing innovative experimental sound and visual artists to an intelligent environment. Critical and Synthetic Detronik collaborated with many new upcoming artists that have moved on to International and National recognition including some of Detroits finest sound from 430 West, Transmat, UR, Planet E, and Minus/Plus 8

AUX 88 - Time Traveler

Detronik utilizes an arsenal of hardware devices to create its distinctive output. Real time generative visuals are constructed and woven into the mix seemlessly. Surveillance Drones are deployed synced up with sound, motion, and remote actuation. Detronik assembles most of its visual stimuli by creating databases of Abstract and Cinematic Footage.
